본 공간디자인 프로젝트는 도시의 불법 노점상, 포장 마차, 화훼시장의 문제를 부분적으로 해결하고, 단순히 관망의 대상에 머물렀던 한강 수공간의 활용이라는 목표 아래 서울시의 새로운 랜드마크로 자리잡도록 디자인 되었다. 따라서 동작대교를 서울 문화 관광의 거점이자, 사계절 내내 특별한 경험을 제공하는 친수 공간으로 변화시키고자 한다. 동작대교 인근의 유속, 지형, 수위 변화의 분석을 토대로 물 덩어리 형태를 유추하여, 한강을 닮은 공간으로 설계하였다. 기존 노점 상인들을 수용하며 영업 환경을 제공하는 동시에 도시의 활력을 보존하고 한강과 가장 가까이에서 즐길 수 있는 친수 공간을 제안한다. 나아가 각 공간에 유연성을 두어 사계절에 따라 포장마차, 문화 공간 등 다양한 기능을 수용할 수 있도록 계획했다.
