Odd Survivors
세상에는 사자나 호랑이처럼 힘으로 살아가는 동물만 있는 것이 아닙니다. 어떤 동물들은 독특한 방식으로 자신만의 생존 전략을 펼칩니다. 줄리아 나비(Julia butterfly)는 악어의 눈을 찔러 눈물을 핥으며 필요한 미네랄을 얻고, 주사위인지 초코렛인지 모를 정육면체의 똥을 싸는 웜뱃(Wombat)과 동굴 속 도롱뇽 올름(Olm)은 수십 년 동안 거의 움직이지 않고도 생명을 이어가며, 갑오징어(Cuttlefish)는 구애의 순간 다른 수컷을 속이기 위해 여장까지 합니다. 이들은 빠르지도, 강하지도 않지만 자신만의 놀라운 지혜로 자연에서 생존합니다. 이렇게 특별한 동물들의 삶을 통해 우리가 미처 알지 못했던 생존의 또 다른 의미를 전하고자 합니다.
Not all animals survive through power like lions or tigers. Some have their own unique survival strategies. Julia Butterfly gets minerals by poking a crocodile’s eye and licking its tears, the wombat produces cube-shaped droppings, the cave salamander Olm lives for decades with little movement, and the cuttlefish even disguises itself as another male during courtship. They may not be fast or strong, but they endure in nature with remarkable wisdom. Through their extraordinary lives, I want to share another meaning of survival we often overlook.
